Persona 3- Memento Mori by DeityofShadows Persona 3- Memento Mori by DeityofShadows
spoilers, perhaps?

Not the most creative title, but it fits this picture well. I wanted to try my own take on the Persona 3 protagonist and Thanatos dynamic-- a common subject, but I hope I executed this well.

Thanatos and Messiah... two Personas that embody the protagonist's journey and answer. Overall, this is very much an experimental picture. I wanted to try a unique frame-- which Persona 3 fans should be very familiar with.

Also, the core idea of the wings is very much inspired by another game: Guilty Gear's Dizzy. This was also done as a mix of traditional black & white styled inking, and edited digitally with the framing.

In any case, enjoy! Comments and critiques are very much appreciated.

Persona 3 belongs to Atlus.

Messiah does take quite a bit of grinding to get, but it is pretty awesome.

This is gorgeous. I love the design of Thanatos SO much. I did a little doodle of him once myself I need to dig out... Maybe redo as a proper sketch. I was always a little disappointed by the actual useable Persona given the fact that I thought Thanatos was so awesomely designed.

The pose you've given Thanatos is really reminiscent of that first brutal appearance - it seems to be embodying a sort of violent rage. Messiah on the other hand looks innocently melancholic. With the coffin framing to it all, it just results in a great piece!

Nice to see you've caught the contrast: the elegant, almost sorrowfully pleading Messiah to the more deliberate, brooding Thanatos. I enjoyed framing this in a coffin as well.

Also, you could use Thanatos. He was the final Death Arcana that required a 5-way cross fusion... or was it 6? But I do see what you mean, many of the other Persona varied in quality. The other party members' Personas were quite interesting designed though.

Oh yeah, what I mean was I built up Thanatos too much. When I actually got him, he's not that great to use. Light and Dark magic focused, so all his higher level spells are useless against bosses and a 50/50 insta kill SP drain otherwise.

I went a little nuts on my last playthrough and more or less fused everything. Including Mara D:

Haha, I think I my final playthrough as the FeMC, I managed to make every Persona-- including Messiah-- aggregated from several New Game+. It's fun to use a Persona combo that had Victory cry (restore full HP and SP after a battle) though; made regular dungeon grinding ridiculously easy without having to worry about SP usage whatsoever.

Also, though Thanatos didn't have as much practical use, my favorite setup for him was Pralaya + Ghastly wail. Severe Pierce damage + fear infliction to all enemies, and if that does not kill them, Ghastly Wail will insta-kill any fear-stricken enemies. xD

The idea of polar opposites but being one and very much the same was crucial for this picture. Thanks for the comment!
